Tepper, Dean of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. On Monday, May 23rd he presented his talk "Bigger Than Me" at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, Center for Visual Art. In his presentation, Tepper considered how the renaissance in creativity and cultural engagement, made possible in part by new technology, has allowed for the production of vast amounts of art and cultural activity. He then identified ways this growth has affected the nature of what is being produced. He argued that the creativity renaissance is manifested in part in media overload and what Tepper refers to as “iCreativity,” which emphasizes individual experience over shared, communal experiences. He posed the question: “How do we nurture ‘bigger-than-me’ experiences in the generation committed to ‘Me’?” Tepper shared several strategies for doing so, all of which “inspire students to find their voices and make learning personal.”
