This link (https://vimeo.com/215526994) is the original video of 1926 Faust and audio CU Denver ElectroAcoustic Ensemble as led by Donald Sosin & Todd Reid performed live for the 2017 Denver Silent Film Festival on 4/29/17. What a great representation of faculty and student talent from the College of Arts & Media. Prof. Todd Reid and musical director Donald Sosin built a silent film accompaniment to Faust in just 2 days. Instead of weeks or months--our students can create a 2-hour soundtrack in just 2 days. Bravo too to Howie Movshovitz for curating this great festival.
What a pleasure to have X Alfonso and Sandra Lopes visit CAM, along with Erin Trapp and Maria Valenzuela from the Biennial of the Americas.
So how do you solve the issue? One key is to erase the idea that producers who don’t live in New York or Los Angeles are “outsiders.” Members of a panel that featured producers and executives from Knoxville, Tenn.; Denver; St. Louis and Minneapolis said although plenty of networks are interested in shows from the flyover states, there’s definitely still a “cool kid” mentality of certain coastal brands. Some people still ask, “Why is your company there?”
“If we’re trying to bridge this divide between the urban and the rural and try to tell stories, post-November, about our world, that mind-set within our group has to change,” said Jager, who runs the Denver-based CORE Innovation Group.
