From the Chronicle on 080217: “The consulting firm Deloitte on Tuesday added yet another chapter to the long-running conversation about “Navigating the Future of Work,” and its conclusions are much like what you might have heard in other “future of work” reports, including The Chronicle’s own: Technology and the loose relationship between employer and employee are going to upend longstanding relationships in the labor market, forcing people to adapt to work that is more automated, relying on “essentially human” skills that are creative and empathetic. Colleges face a number of key questions: People are going to need to re-skill more often and quickly in the future, the report contends, and educational institutions are going to have to prepare that work force.”
“Though Democrats and Republicans are at sharp odds over the direction, funding and effectiveness of public education and school choice, schools of the arts often bridge the partisan divide.”
